Pedro Vianna de Ulhôa Canto joined Ulhôa Canto in 1998 and became a partner in 2016. He graduated from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro – PUC-Rio in 2000 and obtained his LLM degree in International Taxation from New York University in 2006. He also obtained post-graduate degrees in Corporate Law / Capital Markets and in Tax Law from Fundação Getúlio Vargas do Rio de Janeiro – FGV/RJ in 2003 and 2004, respectively.

He was a foreign associate at Cleary, Gottleib, Steen & Hamilton in New York City, from 2006 to 2007, working on the Tax and Capital Markets/M&A teams.

Mainly focuses on consulting and administrative litigation on tax matters deriving from financial transactions, reorganizations (including reorganizations involving investment funds), inbound and outbound investments, cross-border transactions, and wealth/estate planning.

He is also the author of a number of tax articles in domestic and foreign publications.

He has been a member of the Brazilian Bar Association, Rio de Janeiro Chapter (OAB/RJ), since 2001, as well as a member of the Brazilian Financial Law Association – ABDF since 2001, and the International Fiscal Association- IFA since 2001. His native language is Portuguese, and he is fluent in English.
